News May 2008

Our last newsletter mocked the terrible weather in the United Kingdom. Well, nothing's improved. 5 degrees: Spring.

That hasn't stopped the mighty Jo Willatts, consultant and adventurer, returning home to Scotland for her best friend's wedding and trying to dance Highland reels in kitten heels.

For some reason Scotland is a popular destination for Australian social workers and Jo has been round about the highlands and possibly lowlands to find employers willing to take a social worker who'll swap meat pies for haggis and believe that tartan will make a comeback this year.

Meanwhile, back at HQ, Suzanne and Edwina are sifting through all the paperwork an Aussie needs to complete before heading to the UK. Before. They've had some lovely chats with parents after their son/daughter has left the country leaving a trail of A4 destruction in their wake.

As our distinctive orange flag spreads across the landscape of the UK, amicus is placing those dedicated to social welfare in the far far north of Queensland to the remote dusty towns of the Northern Territory and even the glittering metropolis that is Sydney. We have placed Coordinators, Assistant Managers and Team Leaders across Victoria and are nurturing terrified graduates into the job that will pay off the HECS debt that got them there.

amicus recruit - dedicated to social welfare and the welfare of social workers

News February 2008

2008 has got off to a flying start for amicus recruit.

Several social workers have left Australia's sunny beaches for the wind and slush and rain and hail of England and more are packing up their suitcases to join them.

amicus UK have found them positions in London in Child Protection, Youth Offending Teams and Disability and they're settling in to a life of fabulous shopping, friendly pubs with warm beer, great theatres and really terrible weather.

In Australia amicus recruit has been joined Jo Willatts, a social worker herself from Scotland.  Due to her engaging accent and canny work ethic Jo has secured work for social workers from Victoria to Queensland and now has her sights set on the Northern Territory if only her glasses wouldn't keep fogging up.

We're proud to say that first we were global, and now we are national.
